The National Health Council of China (NHC) announced on Tuesday that it recorded 19 new cases of coronavirus in mainland China on Monday.
Of the new cases, 11 cases were imported and 8 cases were locally transmitted. Local cases include seven cases in Beijing and one in Shanghai. There are no new death reports.
Although local officials said last week that the outbreak in the capital’s food wholesale market was “basically contained”, the capital continued to release new cases.
In addition, the NHC reported four new asymptomatic cases. There are currently 99 asymptomatic patients undergoing medical observation.
So far, China has registered 83,531 coronavirus cases and 4,634 deaths.
Health agencies say that so far, 78,469 patients have been discharged.
This is because 400,000 residents in Anxin County, Hebei Province, have been subjected to new blockade measures due to increased cases.
Anxin County is a relatively rural, sparsely populated county, located about 90 miles (145 kilometers) south of Beijing. Coronavirus cases related to emerging markets have exploded in the past two weeks.
