A gunman rammed at an outdoor birthday party near Boston, killing a man and injuring four others.
The victim ’s family and city councillor Andrea Campbell confirmed that Rolando Verdejo, 43, had a rally in the city ’s Dorchester neighborhood on Wednesday night. He and Four other celebrities were shot.
Campbell said in a telephone interview with the Boston Globe: “I’m shocked by this.” “It’s really hard to hear this.”
Officials said four other people suffered non-fatal gunshot wounds.
The shooting occurred at the Franklinfield Housing Development Office owned by the Boston Housing Authority.
Campbell noted that the coronavirus pandemic has led to the economic and social isolation of residents of public housing in the city.
She said: “These people just want to celebrate someone’s birthday in a safe way in order to seek some happiness.” “We have to solve these potential problems.”
Kate Bennett, the administrator of the Board Housing Authority, called the attack meaningless and “sincerely mourned those who suffered this tragedy.”
Verdejo’s family is now trying to arrange a funeral and cremation for him to bring his ashes to a city in Puerto Rico where the victim and his family are from.
After six people were killed in the city in six days, the fatal shooting on Wednesday occurred only a week.
The Suffolk District Attorney ’s Office and the Boston Police plan to investigate the shooting.
Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins told reporters: “We will work around the clock to ensure that we actively seek out individuals and a small number of people cause harm in our community.
