According to statistics compiled by Johns Hopkins University, the country recorded 46,488 deaths on Saturday, Brazil ranked second with 92,475 deaths, and the United States ranked first with 153,320.
Around the world, countries that have achieved some success in fighting the virus are scrambling to break out of the epidemic. In Vietnam, one-third of people died on Saturday from complications related to COVID-19, and the country’s health officials struggled to control the epidemic after nearly 100 days of no new cases.
