(IANS) Hollywood gangster director JJ Abrams has pledged to donate $10 million to the “Black Life Problems” movement to further advance the fight against racism after the death of George Floyd.
It is reported that the director of “Star Wars” joined hands with his wife Katie McGrath and production company Bad Robot to commit to donating to groups with anti-racist agendas in the next five years.
In a statement posted on the Bad Robot Instagram page, Bad Robot Productions and Katie McGrath & JJ Abrams Family Foundation announced charitable donations to many organizations.
First, they will donate $200,000 to each group, which includes: Black Lives Matter LA, Black Futures Lab, Community Alliance, Equality Justice Initiative, and Know Your Rights Camp.
The statement began to say: “Enough is enough.” “Enough police brutality. Enough privileges. Enough polite conversation. Enough white comfort. Long-term neglect and abuse of black siblings for centuries can only be achieved through scalable Invest to solve it. Businesses and private philanthropy can never achieve the impact needed to solve these problems. Institutional inequality, but capable companies and individuals must do everything we can until our political leaders lead.”
This promise was made when the United States faced widespread protest after Freud’s death.
Floyd, 46, passed away last week after white police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled down on his knees to hold him down, although he repeatedly begged “I can’t breathe” and “Please I can’t breathe” . Chauvin was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.
