Washington — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recognized the senior Democratic challenger. He is a senior chairman of the House Committee and its New York district is adjacent to her. The latest challenge of the party leader.

Ocasio-Cortez fled from obscurity to one of Congress’s best-known names and faces in less than two years. She published a series of tweets on Wednesday night announcing her Agree with educator Jamaal Bowman.

This means that Ocasio-Cortez is trying to overthrow the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman, 73-year-old Democratic Rep. Eliot Engel (Eliot Engel). The liberal Engel (Engel) is his 16th term, representing parts of the Bronx and Westchester, adjacent to the Ocasio-Cortez (Ocasio-Cortez) Bronx and Queens base.

“This moment needs to be rejuvenated nationwide and in the ballot box,” Ocasio-Cortez is 30 years old. She tweeted when providing support to Bowman.

Her announcement was made in the second week of nationwide protests against police killings of black people, and after President Donald Trump’s use of force and mockery against demonstrators, some of whom were violent.

She called the African-American Bowman “a profound community leader.” The Engel region is mainly black and Hispanic voters.

Ocasio-Cortez’s move also means that she ignores the House Democrat leader, who has always stood behind the party incumbents facing the main challenger. Last year, when she entered Congress for the first time, Ocasio-Cortez and three other young newborn women (self-proclaimed “squads”) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ( D-Calif) has had many conflicts, although these struggles have subsided in recent months.

Engel reported that it had raised more than $1.6 million by March, which is about three times Bowman’s income. But Engel was accused of not having enough time in his own area, and Bowman’s challenge was considered reasonable.

When Engels heard at the press conference that someone was seeking time to speak to the crowd, Bowman asked for fundraising this week. He told the event organizer that if he didn’t face the elementary school, he would “don’t care”.

Engels campaign spokesman Tom Watson said the congressman praised his “comprehensive skills, ethics, and experience” for his colleagues, including Pelosi, civil rights idol Rep. John Lewis, Georgia Congressman Congressional Black Caucus.

Watson also issued a statement. Engel’s speech at the press conference said: “Re-election campaign, I think people know my position is very important.”

Ocasio-Cortez (Ocasio-Cortez) has approved two other challengers to the conservative House Democrats to participate in this year’s election. Marie Newman defeated Rep. Daniel Lipinski in the Illinois area south of Chicago, while Rep. Henry Cuellar defeated by Ocasio Cote (Ocasio-Cortez) support opponent Jessica Cisneros (Jessica Cisneros).

A spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said the House Democrats’ political department looked forward to Engel’s “continuation of service for his community in the coming years.”

The region is resolutely democratic, and the main winner will almost certainly be elected in November.
